chriscantwell: This is awesome.   seanbury: Wow, I haven’t seen this photo for over 10 years. In 8th grade English, Mrs. Vance showed this photo and had us write a story about it.  As I recall, most kids pointed out how weird it was that the fireman was looking at pumpkins while the blaze was still burning strong. I believe my story was about one of the pumpkins setting the fire and then blending back in with the crowd. Way to bring back a memory from the deep recesses of my brain. johnasparagus: This isn’t for the zine, but I had to post it. It’s absolutely phenomenal. It’s by photographer Joel Sternfeld, taken in the late 70’s. I saw it at the Art Institue in Chicago, a brilliant exhibit called MIND AT PLAY. The story behind this photo must be cool. What started the fire? Why are there pumpkins smashed to bits everywhere? Are we all about to have a short story contest?
